Vocational Adjustment Training

Resume Solutions Vocational Adjustment Training (VAT) program provides a comprehensive outline of a service designed to prepare high school students and adults with disabilities for competitive, integrated employment. The program emphasizes practical classroom instruction and real-world activities to equip students with workforce skills.

Program Structure:

• Full school year or one semester. 

• Classes are conducted by a credentialed Resume Solutions Vocational Adjustment   Instructor.

• Each class comprises six students, ensuring personalized attention.

• 1:1 sessions available.

Teaching Schedule:

• Total Instructional Hours: 110 hours.• Classes occur two to five times weekly,    depending on the school’s schedule.

Class Duration: 1.0-1.5 hours per session. 

Curriculum Overview: 

• Explore the “You” in Work: 10 hours focused on self-discovery and career exploration. 

• Soft Skills to Pay Your Bills: 20 hours dedicated to essential interpersonal skills.

• Entering the World of Work: 10 hours introducing students to workplace expectations.

• Job Search Training: 20 hours on job search strategies and techniques. 

• Disability Disclosure: 20 hours on understanding and navigating disability disclosure in  the workplace.

Money Smart: 30 hours of financial literacy and management. Instructional Methods: 

• Interactive Discussions and PowerPoint Presentations.

• Inquiry-Based and Hands-On Learning. 

• Project- and Problem-Based Learning. 

• Computer-Aided Instruction. 

• Handouts, Exercises, and Journaling Activities. 

Extension Activities such as field trips, guest speakers, and supplementary videos to reinforce learning. Reflection and Reinforcement: • Journaling: Students engage in journaling activities to reflect on their learning, which helps them gain insights into their thoughts and identify areas for improvement. 

These activities reinforce the knowledge and skills acquired, providing students with additional context and practical application. This VAT program is well-rounded, aiming to equip students with both the technical and soft skills necessary for successful employment, while also considering the unique needs of students with disabilities.
